Rail Business Days 2026: EVPÚ Showcases Technologies Powering Modern Rail

The international Rail Business Days 2026 event in Ostrava once again confirmed that the future of rail transport is not shaped only in development centres or laboratories. It is shaped, above all, through concrete projects and technologies that are already reliably serving passengers and rail operators today.

Over the course of several days, rolling stock manufacturers, technology suppliers, carriers, and industry professionals gathered in Ostrava. Their shared goal was to discuss current trends and present solutions that are moving rail transport toward greater efficiency, digitalisation, and sustainability.

Digitalisation, energy efficiency, and safety

This year’s programme was shaped by topics set to define the direction of the rail sector in the coming years. Expert talks and presentations focused mainly on the digitalisation of rail transport, the development of high-speed lines, battery technologies for rolling stock, and the growing importance of cybersecurity for transport systems.

Although the topics varied widely, they shared a common goal: building a smarter, more energy-efficient, and more reliable railway ready to meet the challenges of the future.

When technology meets reality

EVPÚ presented at the fair together with ALKAL BATERIE. Taking part in the event, however, was not just an opportunity to showcase its own solutions — it also offered a chance to show where and how EVPÚ’s technologies are already being used in real-world operation.

One of the event’s most prominent exhibits was a modernised sleeping car for Železničná spoločnosť Slovensko (ZSSK), supplied by ŽOS Vrútky as part of a comprehensive overhaul of night rail services and presented to visitors on-site at the exhibition.

The modernisation brought passengers greater comfort, including air-conditioned spaces, electrical outlets and USB ports at each berth, and refreshed interiors. Behind these visible changes, however, lies an extensive technical overhaul that allows older carriages to meet today’s requirements for safety, reliability, and operational efficiency.

The JN3030/400/24 Auxiliary Converter – understated but essential

The modernised carriage also features EVPÚ technology: the JN3030/400/24 auxiliary converter, which supplies power to the vehicle’s onboard systems.

For passengers, it remains practically invisible — yet its reliable operation is one of the factors that determines the smooth functioning of the entire carriage. Stable power supply, high operational resilience, and safety are among the core parameters that define its importance in modernised rail vehicles.

Rail Business Days 2026 thus presented visitors not only with the result of a successful modernisation, but also with the technologies behind it that make its everyday operation possible.

EVPÚ and ALKAL BATERIE at the centre of expert discussions

The trade fair, however, was not just about exhibits and technical solutions. It also served as an important platform for meetings with partners, customers, and experts from across the rail sector.

The cooperation between EVPÚ and ALKAL BATERIE sparked numerous discussions on energy solutions and power systems for rolling stock. These areas now play a key role in modernising rail transport and building more efficient, more environmentally friendly transport systems.

The discussions also confirmed that the future of rail will rest on the convergence of power electronics, intelligent control, and efficient energy management.

Technologies already shaping the future

Rail Business Days 2026 once again showed that rail transport is going through a period of dynamic change. Modern vehicles, intelligent systems, and new energy solutions are no longer a vision of the future — they are already part of everyday operation.

For EVPÚ, it is therefore important to be part of these projects not just as a technology supplier, but above all as a partner whose solutions contribute to the reliability, safety, and efficiency of modern rail vehicles.

We thank all our partners, customers, and visitors for the meetings, valuable discussions, and shared experience. We look forward to future projects that will keep moving rail transport forward.
